Stop trying to find your sound, your edge, or your special thing. You showed up on the planet with it.
What if you could –
? Get a sturdy, caring guide who’ll get elbows-deep with you and give you quick, clear tools that free your singing and hug your heart?
? Belong to a family of theatre singers who shake pom poms and yell “yaaaaas!” as you show up, challenge yourself, get silly, and try the stuff?
? Find out from a front-line agent in a leading theatrical office exactly how the industry’s shifting every day? And how that’s great news for you?
✅ And most of all, what if you could get actionable, straightforward answers to demystify how to flow your butter-tastic voice through your soul and out of your face?
Have these queries scrolled through your brain?
❓Am I ever going to get my voice to express what I feel inside?
❓Is singing ever gonna feel like joy, expression, and freedom instead of a possibly mean joke?
❓Am I ever gonna learn how to show up and just be me like all the industry people tell me to? (Only they don’t tell me HOW.)
❓Am I ever going to find a teacher who will not just point out the problems (my tension, my jaw, my tongue, my breathing, my posture, my break, my mix, my actual being as an artist ?)?
❓Can I find someone who can break down the technical things so that I can understand them? Maybe not tell me how to manipulate my larynx or to sing more purple?
❓Am I ever going to share singing the way that I dreamed of sharing it when I was a kid? When I saw that singer on that stage and something lit up inside me and said, “I can do that too! I want to share like that!”
Me Too
I’m in deep with these questions every day with committed singers at Boston Conservatory’s Musical Theatre and Graduate Pedagogy programs, and I’m always digging in with pro and aspiring singers like you.
Because I’ve been there.
I’ve stood on Equity stages mid-contract mystified if a sound would reliably leave my face 8 times a week.
I’ve stunk up audition rooms with
- preparation I thought was enough,
- my own need to be validated by tablefolk,
- rough vocal days that I tried to force into submission, and
- a need to prove I “made it” to people who weren’t thinking about me anyway.
After working with hundreds of theatre singers and training with the best teachers I could arm-twist, I found that free, powerful, and healing singing has clear traits.
There are straightforward ways for you to absorb technique, open your heart and sparkle like the unrepeatable schmoopie you are – and feel deep satisfaction.
And when you’re on that track, it’s offensively easy.
Your hard working ego’s gonna be angrier than Miss Piggy catching Kermit making a rainbow connection with Janet.
Imagine
hearing the pianist playing the first notes of the song you prepped,
and instead of your brain shouting,
“What’s the best wall dot to stare at?”,
“Oh crap I hope I have that A-flat today,” or
“Should my hands just…? Aaahh!”
Instead of that–
? You notice your heart pounding, and you’re grateful for all the adrenaline your body’s giving you to energize you and surface your emotional life.
?️ You trust the imagination, time, detailing, and walking-around-dreaming work you’ve done is all there for you, so you could think about pop tarts and still have your feet in the middle of this story.
? You can’t wait for that tricky vocal section because you understand your breath mysteries, vocal mode sweet spots, vowel secrets, and in-your-guts reality —
? You know how to let YOU through, and there’s nothing more beautiful than that.
If this sounds like an experience you’d like to have,
May I invite you to unlock these mysteries for yourself in the secret society known as the
Offensively Easy Team
A comprehensive, online, one-month experience where you’ll hop from frustrated and confused to clear and equipped –
with more voice/story/industry/real deal charisma tools than you have songs to use them on.
When you’ve resonated the secret password, and you’re inside the doors, you’ll find out things like –
? The breathing myth most singers believe and why this scientifically disproven idea makes it harder
? “Pretend that point on the wall is your scene partner” and other advice that’s tanking your auditions
? Why most of what you learned about articulation locks you up – and 3 things to set yourself free
? How “getting it forward” steals your power and 3 easy keys to amplify your sound
? How all that hard work to “make space” just makes singing harder and the silly ways to fix it
? And think you can’t copycat and be authentic? I think you can, boo.

Here’s what some folks who’ve worked with me say:

“Working with Dan changed the trajectory of my career. With Dan’s guidance, I found a freedom and confidence in my instrument that laid the foundation for my work. I use the tools I learned in my lessons with Dan to this day.”
–Gerald Caesar (A Bronx Tale, Choir Boy, Tina, What the End Will Be)

“Dan teaches singing as a whole-body activity. His lessons are both practical and visceral; when I’m in a lesson with him, I can feel my technique getting better in real time.”
—Rachel Bloom (Creator Crazy Ex-Girlfriend)

“I’ve known Dan for many years, and I can say emphatically that I’ve rarely known anyone with such a divine combination of skill, talent, expertise, passion, and joy when it comes to vocal performance. Dan’s mastery is top-level, his love of singing is infectious, and his way of working with people is just plain lovely. He’s clear, collaborative, encouraging, and fun. Anyone looking to develop as a singer would be lucky to study with him.”
–Michael Kostroff, (author The Stage Actor’s Handbook and Audition Psych 101)

“Dan always knows where someone’s heart is – in observing him teach, I saw him seemingly shape shift to the energy of his students like he could see what was on their mind and was ready to meet them where they were at for that given day without them having to tell him what was up… and he knows a lot! And therefore shares a lot. People leave his classroom and studio better singers and humans not just because he cares about them and they know you care about them, but also because he shares really great, tangible information. He has a lot of knowledge, lived experience, and wisdom to impart! I find myself referencing notes from his class all the time.”
Meredith Eib (Temple University and Catholic University)
What’s it worth to you?
Oof, ⏰ I’ve spent the thousands of hours practicing HARD telling myself, yes, it’s this hard. RIGHT?
? Throwing vocal spaghetti at the wall to see what might stick and then trying to replicate that thing I couldn’t describe in the first place.
? Writing checks for coachings I wasn’t positive were helping, taking my nebulous findings into audition rooms not knowing if they’d work when I felt pressure,
? and all the while feeling like I was losing time and limited budget dollahs just trying to figure it out
What would it be worth to you to fast pass to the front of the I-know-how-my-physiology-connects-to-my-soul line?
✅ Not to struggle with confusion and hard work wrestling with your breath support?
✅ Not to have to suffer the clue-free agony of why-the-hell-won’t-this-vowel-work-for-this-note-with-this-sound?
✅ Not to worry whether or not the sound’s gonna come out of your face the way you want it to when you’re under pressure?
✅ To know your money’s well invested in tools you can truly use.
In the Calla-studio sphere,
a one-hour 1:1 is $170/hr.
A studio class is $120,

So, for two lessons, studio class, and an industry workshop, total is $580.
But if you get yourself in the Calla-Crew
Offensively Easy Team
your investment is
$399
You could even ghost a class (which I know you won’t), and you still come out on top.
(And don’t worry – even if you can’t make it to class, you’ll get the recording.)
And if it’s easier, there’s a payment plan ($99.75/wk)
It’s like that bag of macadamias at Trader Joe’s.
You’re like, “These nuts ain’t cheap, but dang, that’s a great price for macadames!”
(☝️ the button will take you to a super fancy google form where you can reserve your spot — you won’t pay for anything until Monday April 3.)
Doors close on Monday, April 3, and we top out at 10 seats, so jump in here.
Wondering what this wild and crazy experience looks like?
Here’s a peak where you can see mostly my side of the work from one of our Offensively Easy Team meetings – (Working on “Monster” from FROZEN with Mikayla.)
If the way I work can help you,
Heads up
The Offensively Easy Team
is not for you if
you just want the mechanics and how-to without connecting story to your emotional reality – or you don’t vibe with all this “there’s only one of you and you’re special” talk.
you don’t like making silly sounds or trying crazy things that yield incredible results
you’re into competition and being better than
But it’s perfect for you if
you’re committed to bringing true you into the room and being all savvy about it
you’re willing to question the opinions you’ve absorbed in the past
you want to feel deep satisfaction with your work in the room, in rehearsal, and on the stage
You feel like there’s more you can share, and you want to get courageous and share it
Imagine yourself on the other side of next month.
Do you want to be the you who
? has fresh, clear tools for your voice,
?️ a sturdy framework to understand how your body and soul work together,
?? encouragement grounded in what you’re already doing great and how you can make your expression more satisfying FOR YOU,
? and keen insight on what’s going on in the industry today and how you can navigate those changing waters.
Or will you keep the things that aren’t cracking the code, stay stuck when things don’t feel right, keep struggling alone, and pass on a chance to get all the goodies from Erika’s terrific brain?
Uh, Dan, how do I know that I’ll get results with you?
Short answer: you don’t.
But the things I share with you are universally true for how the body and voice work together.
Your way in will be your own, and I’ll give you every tool I have and find some more until it clicks.
Also, if you’ve read this far, you and I probably vibe just great :).
How can you say singing is offensively easy? It’s always been hard for me.
Singing’s weird. You’re dynamically engaging muscles and softening others in ways that we don’t instinctively do. That’s why it’s an art. (and why that classical singer teacher person talked the way they did.)
But when you help the systems play well together, you’re gonna feel pissed about how hard you’ve been working before.
How can you teach someone to be authentic and stand out? Isn’t the IT factor just something you have or you don’t?
The truth is that you showed up on this planet completely unique and authentic. Standing out isn’t about working harder. It’s about sharing competence and warmth, opening your heart, and welcoming connection.
If you’re working with skill and excellence and invite people to the party, the right folks are gonna come in.
I have Zoom PTSD, and I want to work in the room live with somebody.
Me. Too.
The reality is that I’m in Boston, and you’re where you are, and this internet thing is amazing at how it lets us work together. I want to be accessible to you, so this is the best way I can do that.
(If you discover or invent an affordable teleportation device, please let us and all of humanity know.)
There’re things that are tough about online meetings, and I’ve also found that the pace of video (you have to slow down a little) allows motor learning and procedural memory to layer in more readily.
With that said, if you need some in-person instruction, I understand that deep. (If you’re in LA or NYC, email me, and I can get you some recos.)
And any other questions you may have, just reach out. I’m here to answer.
Okrrr, Dan. I feel you. I’m in!
And most of all remember — There’s only one you. Share the story only you can sing.
Love much,
Dan
